What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Peugeot Key Fob is a useful feature that lets drivers start their vehicle from some distance. This feature is helpful in hot or cold conditions, since it gives motorists to warm the interior and engine before entering the vehicle.

Dealerships can program and create new Peugeot keys however, only if they are able to do so. At KeyNOW, we can cut programs, cut and deliver new Peugeot keys to you, significantly faster.

Keyless Entry

Some key fobs are also able to start your car's engine. This is useful if the vehicle needs to be parked on a hot day or if the boot is filled with heavy objects that make it difficult to manually open the door. Press the unlock button on your key fob a few times to unlock the car. The door locks should be locked and the red LED light will begin to flash. If it doesn't, the battery in the key fob could be dead and need replacing. Alternately RF interference caused by nearby structures could interfere with your system.

Another nifty feature is that some key fobs have a hidden physical key that can be used to unlock the car (often only for the driver's door but sometimes for the boot too). You can access them by lifting a flap or pressing a button. The key's physical part can be removed from an opening in the case, allowing access to the lock.

Key fobs can get damaged by water, particularly when the chips inside are exposed to soapy or salty water. In some cases keys will stop working completely due to a damaged chip. If this occurs the key fob will need to be replaced - typically by the dealer. Locksmiths can provide replacement keys much more quickly and at lower costs than dealerships.

Remote Start

You can start your car and not need to carry your keys in your car. This is especially helpful when it's hot out and you want to cool your car while doing the errands. There are a few things that you must be aware of before you use this feature.

Some key fobs include an engine start button you can press to start your vehicle remotely (for instance, Ford has a circular arrow moving clockwise on its key fob). Mazdas, for example require you to lock the key first and then press the Start button.

It could be that you have a dead or weak battery in your key fob, if you are unable to start your car. The battery in the key fob is no longer strong enough to send a signal back to the car system.

If this is the case, you'll need to replace the batteries in your key fob or consider changing the program. This procedure varies from car to car, but you should generally follow the instructions in the owner's manual. Our mobile technicians are equipped to assist you in this process. Door Locks

The Peugeot 3008 remote key system allows the owner to lock and unlock their vehicle by pressing of a button on the key fob. In  Main Page  to the traditional key which has a physical key hole the key fob contains an encrypted copy of the car keys inside.

It does this by using the radio signal which can only be transmitted when the key is in some distance from the car. A solenoid inside the door lock converts the electronic signal into mechanical once the signal has been detected. This turns a rod to operate the door locks, just as a physical key could.

There are a variety of possible reasons for the Peugeot keyfob that's not locking or unlocking your vehicle. The most frequent cause is the battery of the coin is dead, which can be replaced within minutes. Other causes are worn-out buttons signals interference or water damage or a malfunctioning chip.

Modern cars require a very high level of precision to operate and the key fob is not in any way immune to this. Key fobs can be programmed incorrectly, or may have an issue with the hardware that stops it from receiving a signal from the vehicle. A licensed locksmith can reprogram the key fob to ensure that it works with your vehicle.

Immobiliser

Peugeot were among the first car manufacturers to include an immobiliser chip in a key. This stops the vehicle from starting if it detects an untrue signal being sent from the key to the car. When new this is great however as they age, the chips wear out and start to cause problems. This usually starts when you notice an alert on your dashboard that reads 'anti theft system active or a warning light which reads 'immobiliser failed'.

Peugeot dealerships are usually used to design and program replacement keys. However, a professional locksmith is equipped with dealer-standard equipment in their van, which means they are able to be with you and generating new Peugeot keys at the roadside or at your home faster than dealerships are capable of.

Peugeot keys usually begin to malfunction when the key blade starts to wear out. This wear can cause the mouth of the key not to get into the lock properly, causing further wear on the locks. Often simply swapping over a new blade can help resolve the problem. It can also be beneficial to have the teeth of the key replaced so they work more smoothly. Only a professional auto locksmith is able to do this, but it will save you lots of time and money in the end.
